I needed a fix
I was never big on piercing till I hit my late teens. I only had my ear lobes done, but a lot of my friends had more then just their ear lobes. Such as tongue, lip, nape, and nose. I thought they looked so nice. What better way to enhance my body then with piercings?
My father is very narrow-minded when it comes to body modification. He thinks it’s a sickness that needs to be treated. So I went for my first cartilage piercing at eighteen. I could finally consent for myself. I started off with just a helix got an industrial and a conch. I loved all of them and I was hooked on piercings and that feeling, the rush that came with them. He decided he did not like them and told me I was going to be kicked out if I came home with a new one.
About six months went by and I was longing for that rush. I was addicted and had to have it again. I had been stretching my current piercings and felt that another earring would not be noticed. So I begged my best friend to take me for a new one. Now he’s not anti-piercing but he thinks my ears look like Swiss cheese and he hates it. So he agreed to take me only if I got something else done. I could not get anything done on my face due to regulations at work and the obviousness of them. My dad would notice that in a second. I decided that the only option I was willing to indulge in was a nipple ring.
So we headed towards the parlor. I was so nervous I had to stop at his place first to pee. When I finally got there they all remembered me and I started talking. I asked some general questions about the ramifications this piercing would have. I must admit I was scared. My heart was racing. Finally I had signed everything and given them my money for a final decision of a ring through my right nipple. Now I just had to wait till the other guy using the room finished his tattoo. That only made it worse
I went in and sat down. My best friend (who’s a guy) came in to witness for me. I removed my shirts and bra. I never felt more comfortable and uncomfortable at the same time. The piercer took out all of the sterile equipment. He set up the capture bead ring, needles, and lubricant then fixed the rubber bands on the clamps. He told me the gauge was to be a sixteen. I thought that would be quite enough pain for then and I could always stretch it. He told me to stand up while he marked the spots on my nipple where it would be pierced. I was so worried that it was going to be more pain then I could take. I sat back down and he put the clamps in place I was getting more and more nervous by the minute. The whole time my friend is sitting behind me giving me that look of complete nausea. All he could do was shake his head and tell me I had more balls then he thought I did. I told him I did not have any (tee-hee). The piercer picked up the needle and asked “are you ready?” I told h im I was but if he could just count down for me. He of course obliged. “One…Two…Three (pierce!)” and it was over. Well almost he then attached the ring to the end of the needle and pulled it through. He then closed it tight and told me I could look in the mirror.
When I turned to my friend the initial look on his face was that of *I’m going to vomit* mixed with complete horror. Then he came to and told me it looked really hot. I was glad I had done it he handed me an instruction sheet. It told me I had to soak it twice a day in sea salt dissolved in warm water. Clean it with Bactine and turn it. And make sure to wash it and my hands with antibacterial soap. I could do that. The piercer put a Band-Aid over it he told me that was to hold it down, limit movement, and keep it from rubbing up against my clothing. I asked how long I should wear one for he said as long as I felt I needed it but after two weeks I should stop. I got dressed and left the shop, very proud of my new piercing.
I had trouble at first climbing into the car and with the bumps in the road. Every single movement of my breast made it sting a little. And I happen to have big breasts which I have decided is a bad thing if you want a nipple ring. The pressure from my own breast on the ring made the piercing hurt more when I took the Band-Aid off or my bra. So I wore a Band-Aid for the entire first week and I wore my bra to bed. Although I don’t recommend wearing a Band-Aid for that long, the skin around you areola is very sensitive and thin. And it ripped off a lot of the skin I had to put cocoa butter on it for a long time after to restore my skin to normal.
Over-all though my piercing has healed relatively well. I still get crustiness which I use Bactine and anti-bacterial soap to get rid of. I recommend cleaning the ring thoroughly before trying to turn it, trying to do otherwise is just painful. I have had minimal migration and I’m pretty pleased. However I have attempted stretching it to a fourteen gauge and encountered some bleeding and a lot of unnecessary pain. I like the capture bead ring or curved barbells over the straight ones they make it bleed as well.
The best part is I got the piercing I had been craving and my dad is none the wiser!
