Re Piercing my Nipples Through Scar Tissue Ouch

** PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU HAVE EVER HAD NIPPLE RINGS THAT HAVE MIGRATED, DIDN’T HEAL, OR FOR ANY REASON NEED TO BE RE-PIERCED. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, AND YOU SHOULD ALWAYS TAKE THEIR WORD BEFORE MINE, HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS TWICE &  THERE COULD BE SOME HELPFUL INFO HERE**

Okay, the first time I had my nipples pierced, I was sixteen. (It was legal, because I was emancipated and was legally my own guardian at the time). Anyway, the piercer used 14 gauge rings with purple captive beads on them, I loved these piercings. At the time, I thought it was a wonderful experience. I noticed that they weren’t healing too quickly, and called the shop. I was told not to worry because I have big breasts (DD’s) and they could take up to a year to heal. I took this advise and used the recommended medicines and cleaning procedures. I did have two incidents that didn’t help the healing process at all; one nipple was hit by an ocsilating fan that didn’t have a cover (my sister had asked to see them); the other actually got hooked on the button on my jeans when I went to stand up, that hurt! These incidents combined with the fact that my piercer had advised me to use a medicine that now is a big NO-No for piercings kept my nipples from healing, and then they actua lly started migrating out. So, sadly, I took them out when I was eighteen.

A few months ago before I made twenty I started once again doing extensive research on nipple piercings because I really wanted them back. I talked to a few piercers at Art Attack Tattoo and read stories as well as pros and cons for nipple piercings. The first thing I saw was that CIRCULAR BARBELLS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BIG BREASTS or NIPPLES. What this means is that the circular hoops with captive beeds are cute, but can make it very hard for a nipple to heal, picture your ring, under your bra, being constantly pressed down against your breast, it will pull the other side in a sort of up/out angle (that is the side of the ring in your nipple). Hoops also get hooked & flipped a lot, and it’s not fun. Please refer to previous paragraph. It is most recommended to use a curved or straight barbell, they will not get caught nearly as often.

I was also told to wear a comfortable bra to sleep, NO LACE, this way it doesn’t snag on every little thread or get bothered by my every little move. I found a few spandexy-type bras that also allowed my piercings to breathe as well.

Third, I decided that I still wanted my piercings to be horizontal, (Just like the first time) not vertical, which meant we could either go through or behind my scar tissue. Upon examination (the piercers there were two guys who were each going to do one side at the same time) told me that apparently my first piercing was too close to the surface. So we decided to pierce partially behind/partially through the original piercings & scar tissue, that made me nervous.

So, then the time came to actually get them re-pierced. The main piercer at the shop was very good at calming me down. He was cracking all kinds of jokes, he also measured my nipples, and told me that the best way to keep them from migrating was to get AT LEAST a twelve gauge curved barbell.

Now, came the actual piercing. I had to lay down, and my friends actually massaged my feet while they put the clamps on. The clamps are worse than the piercing. They told me to inhale and pierced me when I exhaled. It hurt, but wasn’t unbearable. I did let out a yelp though, couldn’t help myself. I don’t find that the scar tissue made the piercing any worse than it was the first time, in fact it hurt less than the first time. Both my nipples have healed in under three months.

I will say this though, out of Septum, nipples, vertical clit hood, and my tongue, the nipples did hurt the most, but as I said it is nowhere close to unbearable. So don’t let the pain dissuade you from getting them.

***TIPS**

1. Do NOT use any sort of neosporin, alchohol or peroxide on nipples (or just about any other piercings) Many piercers recommend either antibacterial soap or sea salt soaks (which may dry out some piercings), I use the antibacterial soap and a sea salt soak twice a week, this seemed to work beautifully.

2. DO NOT PLAY WITH THEM! Okay, if you get your nipples done, you automatically think of how fun they can be, but be warned. Constant or frequent touching (This does include tongue 🙂 can keep them from healing or cause them to develop many kinds of nastiness (you DON’T want that). It’ll be hard, but try to keep your and everyone elses hand off them, and if you do touch them, at least make sure your hands are clean! You don’t want to lose this piercing!

3. Watch out for fans & buttons.

As stated before, I am not a professional, I only know what I have learned from reading up & personal experience. PLEASE, be sure to research ANY piercings prior to getting them, know exactly what you are getting into. Also, it’s a good idea to talk to at least a couple shops in your area as each professional seems to have their own preferences.

GOOD LUCK!
